Game’s Description

Seeds of Conflict is a narrative-driven action RPG set in a fractured universe caught between the forces of Peace and Conflict. Players assume the role of a member of a once-great society devoted to spreading harmony across the realms, until a devastating malevolent force shattered their order, reducing them to a fraction of who they once were. As the protagonist, you are charged with tracking down a former ally turned traitor, believing they hold the key to finding and confronting the true antagonist. Accompanied by two trusted allies, you set out on this dangerous mission, only to be separated early on. Stranded and alone, you awaken in a world teetering on the brink of all-out war.

As the protagonist journeys through this new land, they’ll uncover the rich lore of the world and forge complex relationships with the strange, mysterious or downright goofy characters they meet. The story will challenge players to navigate the personal and external consequences of conflict, exploring themes of betrayal, resilience, resolution and much more in a world where peace and conflict coexist in a delicate balance.


Inspiration

The idea for this project stemmed from my early research and exploration of themes like Resolution, Tension and Motivation and Consequences of unchecked power (Research can be found under ‘Exploration & Research - Elements & Beyond here: Phase II - Deep Dive). This evolved into the idea of a game that focused on the delicate balance between Peace and Conflict, something that has plenty of narrative potential, something I am greatly interested in.

Through further research and discussions, I shaped the game into a narrative-driven RPG that engages and stimulates players emotionally through the narrative and entertains them physically through gameplay/combat. The essential experience shifted from ‘Explore philosophical themes of conflict’ to now ‘Immersing players in a world where they must navigate the immediate complexities of both Conflict and Peace’.


Gameplay Loop

Action: Engage in fast-paced battles against enemies influenced by the ENTITY OF CONFLICT (Antagonist).

Reward: Obtain materials for upgrades, ABILITIES, Lore Bits & more.

Opportunity: Discover the hidden lore of the world, learn about the conflict that is brewing from NPC interactions and immerse yourself in the richly detailed environments and histories of a world torn by conflict.
